In olden days, a “keeping room” was the center of a colonial home. It was warmed by the fireplace and most of life’s activity took place in that small room. Baskets were woven and hung on pegs or placed on shelves to keep much of the necessary clutter handy yet out of sight. Our Primitive Shelf Basket is a reproduction of just such a basket.
Any level of weaver will enjoy this project so click on this link to purchase a pattern for the Primitive Shelf Basket.

Joanna, Thank You ever so much for the free download of your unusual ‘woodsy’ basket. I can just envision fresh cut flowers, pine cones, and many other unique forest finds filling it. Although I create in many fiber disciplines, I rarely weave baskets. I will make it my summer ‘fun’ project. Your directions read very ‘clean’ and doable and I have containers full of fibers etc. I will incorporate into its creation.
