There is no other basket as suited for hauling things than the Leather Handled Tote Basket. This large basket’s strength is a attributed to the riveted leather handles that are woven around and through the base of the basket. So if you have lots of books to haul to and from school or the library, or if you want a classy looking tote to carry your extra clothes in to the gym, or even if you need a sturdy carry-on for your next flight across the country, the Leather Handled Tote Basket is the attractive solution. (If perchance you have your own supplies and only need the leather strapping, click here: Leather Handled Tote Strapping.)

Anne,
This is a really fun basket to weave! I hope you enjoy the project. When we finish this basket, we weave the natural leather into the basket and then dip the entire basket - leather and all - in an interior wood working stain. We use Minwax oil based stains the most. Just be sure to let the leather absorb enough stain to be as evenly colored as possible. We usually submerge leather completely for at least a minute on each section. Hope that helps! Happy weaving!

I ordered this kit some time ago and am starting to make it now. How do you dye it? I usually use weaver’s stain, but it should I dip it after the leather is added to dye both wood and leather?
