After over 6,400 baskets, I thought I had almost done it all … until a customer asked if I could make a striped basket. I have done checkered patterns, American flag patterns, solid stains, painted accents, even Aztec designs, but never genuine stripes. I told the customer that I would find a way to make it happen. A new challenge!
Simply alternating the dyed weavers would make the baskets appear to be checkered, but combining alternating dyed stakes with alternating dyed weavers resulted in a fantastic contrast.
I finished the baskets with a natural stain to keep the stark contrast between the brown and natural reed. What a fun project! I just may need to weave some of these for myself …
Love these and all your baskets. You are very inspiring.
like your brown hue of different tones
I would love to by the pattern for that basket!
